2024 marks our local charity’s 50th anniversary… Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale has been supporting older people in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan for half a century! Today our mission is as clear as it was back then… to live in a society where older people are respected and enabled to meet their aspirations.

Please join us at one of the many celebrations we have planned throughout the year, our Business Fundraising Lunch on the 4th October.

At this event you will be able to network, enjoy a delicious two course lunch, welcome drink and listen to our amazing guest speakers who will ensure you come away inspired to achieve more from life and in business.

Guest Speakers include:

Lara Rebecca

lara

“As a Cardiff-based bilingual mental health and eating disorder awareness advocate, I bring a unique perspective shaped by my personal journey overcoming anxiety disorder and anorexia nervosa. I'm dedicated to destigmatizing conversations around mental health and sharing practical tools to facilitate personal development and growth.

Through my raw and unfiltered keynote speech, I encourage audiences to lean into discomfort, prioritise their psychological well-being, live in alignment with their core values, and strive for contentment and happiness.

Ryan Clemson

ryan

Ryan Clemson is an Ambassador for Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale and a local business Director.

He recently took on an almighty challenge to raise funds to support our charity work in memory of his late dad. Ryan ran from his home town of Llanidloes to his now home in Cardiff. This equated to around 90 miles/140 kilometres. Running through the night and dealing with all the challenges and exhaustion that brings – Ryan says that what kept him going was thinking of his dad who passed away the previous year. Like us, Ryan feels passionately about combatting loneliness amongst the older generation. He says “ my father passed at the ripe old age of 87 and in those final years he did spend a lot of his time alone with myself and my brother not being around as much as we would have loved to. A neighbour said that to make sure my father’s legacy lives long in everyone’s memory would be to do meaningful charity work. That really stuck with me and is the main reason I took on this run”.

Ryan is also a Director at Uniek Residential, where he oversees the operations and growth of this leading property management company in South Wales, serving both residential and student markets. He says he is always looking for new opportunities to expand our business, improve our processes, and enhance our customer experience.
