How we're helping local older people may have changed... but we're needed now more than ever. #helpushelp
Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale have always supported older people who have little or no family support. As the Coronavirus hits hard and more family and friend members need to self- isolate the number of people needing our support is rising immensely. We are supporting the most vulnerable in our community and we need help to keep them safe, well, and reassured there is help at hand.
Increased Demand – We are receiving approximately 100 calls daily to our lines for information, advice and support during the crisis and in almost all cases we have managed to provide support or signpost people onwards. Our busiest day with 175 calls on our external lines.
Shopping Requests - Over 5 weeks we have arranged more than 280 new shops & prescription pickups.
By our Senior Health Shop drop in centre in Barry being closed we are losing a third of our revenue to maintain its long term viability.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers are still working hard to safely reach out to older people and respond to their requests for help and support in Cardiff and the Vale.
1000's of calls made via our telephone link service.

AGE CONNECTS CARDIFF & THE VALE
WHO ARE WE?...
We are Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale, an independent registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.
Our vision is to live in a society where older people are respected and enabled to meet their aspirations.
Our Core Purpose is to provide support services for those members of our community over 50 years of age.
The culture of our organisation is reflected in our six Core Values, explained in our animated video. We put people at the centre of what we do, understanding their needs, creating a relationship of trust based on communicating effectively and delivering on our promises in a professional way.
Our Objective is to help, support and enable older people to maintain their independence and improve the quality of their lives and we Aim to do this by:
Recruiting staff and volunteers
Being proactive in seeking partnerships to improve the care and support for older people.
Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale helps thousands of local older people. Help is at hand when people most need it may be coming home to an empty house after a stay in hospital, being supported when making difficult choices such as moving into a care home. For many housebound older people their weekly volunteer visitor may be the only person they see to talk to and spend time with.
All this would not be possible without the tremendous support that we receive from volunteers, supporters, fundraisers, and donations from people just like you. Could you help us make a difference to an older person’s life.
At Age Connects we understand the importance of good wellbeing, which is why we also provide opportunities for older people to maintain their health and remain active in their community. If you want to find out more contact us.
